SOME TYPES OF MANCALA BOARDS #2

Talking about Mancala games is the same than talking about domino games or card games. That is, with a board of two rows of six holes, for example, we will play several different games.


2x8, 2x12, 4x6, 4x7, 4x8 Boards

2x8 board is a mancala board with two rows of eight holes. This kind of board is characteristic in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.  It is included in the generic name Bao (2x8, 2x12 and 4x8 boards).

This one that appears on the left is from Kenya, from Maasai people. 

2x12 board is a mancala board with two rows of twelve holes. This kind of board is characteristic in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.  It is included in the generic name Bao (2x8, 2x12 and 4x8 boards).

This one that appears on the right is from Kenya, from Maasai people.

This one that appears on the left is from Angola.

 

4x7 board is a mancala board with four rows of seven holes.

This one that appears on the right is from Zimbabwe (austral Africa).
